Please see below for the main features of FX2000 and necessary requirements for its set up. Robust Technical Architecture: FX2000 has a solid technical architecture, with its software programmed in Visual Basic and C++. Dynamic Software, Flexible Approach to Programming: FX2000’s one comparative advantage is that its software is very dynamic, with new functionality implemented on a continuous basis according to clients’ requirements and the program tailored for market needs. Customized Display to Address Clients’ Requirements: As each client has different set of priorities, and FX 2000 offers such a wide range of functionality, Foreks allows clients to customize their screen displays according to their needs. These multi-window specialized displays can be saved and shared by colleagues who operate within the same network, which allows the client company to monitor different markets and portfolios efficiently. Updates Automatically Implemented in the Air: There is no need for extra client visits for physical updates; all updates are implemented in the air with new versions of the software broadcast via the VBI technology. Necessary Back-ups in Place: The program is broadcast via multiple servers, with back-up servers and test servers present in the main office. In addition, there is another back-up server placed in a different physical location against any physical damage to main headquarters. Minimum necessary configuration: - Pentium II - 300 MHz CPU
- 128 MB Ram in memory
- 1GB available space in the HDD
VBI technology used to broadcast the data: The vertical blanking interval (VBI) is a portion of a television signal that can carry information other than video or audio, such as closed-caption text and in this case, it is used to transmit stock market, foreign exchange data and news. The data is forwarded to the FX2000 user via TV broadcast, utilizing VBI technology. Foreks was the first in its market to use this technology to broadcast its data. There is no need for a modem or any lease lines, and therefore, the set-up is very easy and cost-efficient. Foreks supplies the users with and external VBI card that allows their computer to receive the data. VBI data can be inserted by a cable TV provider and transmitted to a special receiver that connects to a computer's RS-232C port. Foreks only needs to install the receiver card to clients’ computer and make sure that the client has access to a TV antenna, satellite dish or cable. Multicast system: In a client environment, network users receive data through a single multicast stream. Data traffic is independent of client numbers.
